Fribal van Astrea (フライバル・ヴァン・アストレア) was Theresia van Astrea's uncle and the Sword Saint before her.

Appearance

Fribal was a tall, skinny man who had long red hair and blue eyes.

History

Sometime before the Demi-Human War, Fribal's Sword Saint powers transferred to his niece, Theresia van Astrea. During the war, he fought against the demi-humans and died.

Abilities

Divine Protection (加護, Kago): As the Sword Saint, Fribal had the Divine Protection of the Sword Saint (剣聖の加護 Kensei no Kago).

Sword Saint (剣聖, Kensei): Fribal was the Sword Saint until he was succeeded by Theresia.

Master Swordsman: Fribal was highly skilled at using the sword. Thanks to the Divine Protection of the Sword Saint, he had reached the very zenith of his potential with the sword.

Equipment:

Dragon Sword Reid (龍剣レイド, Ryūken Reido): As the former Sword Saint, Fribal wielded the Dragon Sword Reid. The sword can only be drawn against opponents it deems worthy for it to be used against. It is unknown if Fribal ever got the opportunity to draw the sword, however, it should be mentioned that according to the Author, not every Sword Saint had the opportunity to draw the famed Dragon Sword Reid.

Trivia

Fribal's name was serialized incorrectly in Sword Demon Battle Ballad: Act 7, where he was named Redrick van Astrea (レドリック・ヴァン・アストレア, Redorikku van Asutorea). The author later made an apology for the mistake.^[1]
