Belmont

Information

Belmont (ベルモンド) is a member of the Six Tongues, acting as a subordinate of Russell Fellow. In accordance with his orders, he infiltrated the membership of The Brotherhood and Reiner Wahrheit's organization in the past.

Appearance

Belmont is a thin man with orange hair, cat-like orange eyes, and wears an oversized hat pulled low over his head. Fifteen years before the start of the main story, he was under the age of fourteen, had a short stature, and dressed in a light button-down shirt with cut sleeves and dark pants. Ten years later, he appeared to look a little bit over twenty years of age, and he donned a more casual shirt with a vest and gloves.

Personality

When he was a boy, Belmont maintained the disposition of an ornery slum child, but in reality, the attitude was a pretense. He displays a deep allegiance to Russell.

History

Once Upon a Time in Lugunica

On the day when a ceremony was held to appoint Roswaal L. Mathers as the new head of House Mathers, Belmont was tasked with stealing the nobleman's golden plume. Although initially successful in stealing the plume, and counterattacking Roswaal to make a getaway, Belmont was eventually cornered in an alleyway until the leader of The Brotherhood, Marcos Gildark, rescued him. Marcos made quick work of Roswaal and made him lose consciousness. With Russell in tow, Roswaal came to reclaim his plume, which bore similarities to fake golden plumes owned by the Golden Wing Faction.

Upon recovering his plume and learning of the circumstances between The Brotherhood and the Golden Wing Faction, Roswaal hosted a meeting between both groups which Bel attended. It resulted in both groups agreeing to move to Costuul so they could begin to create magicreation tools there. Later that night, Belmont met with Russell to receive orders on his next course of action and inform his superior of the origin of the power that affected Marcos earlier in the day. Finished with his duties in the Royal Capital, Belmont followed Russell's orders to accompany the Golden Wing Faction and The Brotherhood to Costuul and keep in touch with him.

First Mission

Ten years later, Belmont, now a young adult, had left Costuul at an indeterminate time and returned to the Royal Capital to infiltrate Reiner Wahrheit's organization, becoming an irreplaceable member of the underground group responsible for distributing the Hexcel drug. While acting as an insider, Belmont got to know Julius Juukulius, who managed to rescue him from capture by the knights. In an attempt to shake up the organization, Belmont spread a rumor that he was affiliated with the knights. The two were assigned to transport Hexcel to the Royal Capital. However, just as the city was about to reach their sight, the members of the organization ambushed them and captured Belmont, suspecting he was a mole for the knights due to his former membership in the Brotherhood that Marcos, the knight commander, used to lead.

Holding himself responsible for Belmont's capture, as he had been a mole to take down the organization, Julius and his two collaborators, Bikram Edditz and Helaine Gatness, the latter of whom was a covert Six Tongues member like Belmont, hatched a plan to save him before he could be executed by Reiner. Using Blau, a member of the organization whom Julius had injured, Helaine drugged him with Hexcel of potent quality, sending him on a rampage that ended with his life being cut short by Reiner's hand while Julius rescued Belmont. The plan succeeded, and Julius sent Belmont outside to a boat along a river where Bikram and Helaine retrieved him. In the end, Julius took down Reiner and another person who had infiltrated the group, a girl calling herself Adelheid, also captured his collaborator, Count Easley Oruon, ending the duo's operations once and for all. With their mission complete, Helaine and Belmont prepared themselves to move to their next tasks, briefly conversing with one another after the latter's reunion with Marcos.

Following the incident, Adelheid, who had actually been Reinhard van Astrea in disguise, bargained with the Six Tongues to promote his father, Heinkel Astrea, to the role of the knights' deputy commander, which they accepted. Following Heinkel's departure from a bar in the Commoner District in which he had been speaking to Reinhard about his promotion, he happened upon Belmont, who told him that his group's people were keeping an eye on his father. Thought Reinhard was surprised that the young man had been a member of the Six Tongues, Belmont surmised that, while acting as Adelehid, he realized that he had been hiding something. Reinhard informed him that he had gained permission to join the knights from Heinkel and subsequently swore he would never swing his sword for the sake of the Six Tongues, a sentiment which Belmont wholeheartedly accepted on behalf of his organization.
