Royal Selection Prequel, Imperial Diplomacy of Bloodshed Part 1 (王選前日譚、流血の帝国外交 前編) is a side story featured in Monthly Comic Alive. This story was later adapted into Re:Zero Ex Light Novel Volume 4.

Summary

Six months before the Royal Selection and after the death of the Lugunican Royal Family, Reinhard, Julius, and Ferris accompanied Miklotov and Bordeaux for security to Lupugana, the Imperial Capital of the Vollachia Empire. They were invited by the 77th emperor, Vincent Vollachia.
