Hamayal Wesmi

Hamayal Wesmi (ハマヤル・ウエズミ) was a shinobi from the Vollachia Empire who was tasked to assassinate Priscilla Barielle.

Appearance

Hamayal's appearance was never described.

Personality

As a shinobi, Hamayal had been perfected as a puppet who lacked a sense of free will, focusing single-mindedly on tasks assigned to him without question. He regarded the task of assassinating a Royal Selection Candidate as the culmination of his work and something to celebrate at the end of his time as a shinobi. Because he adhered so carefully to the idea of acting with the idealized idea of a shinobi with resolve as he and the others from his village believed, he was enraged upon learning of Yae Tenzen's betrayal, which quickly turned to alarm when he realized she had been broken. After his mind was shattered by Al, although he was reduced to a pawn who did as the knight told, he failed to become the same type of loyal pawn Yae was.

History

In his childhood, Hamayal met and began coexisting with his Phantom Wolf. At some point, he completed his training in the shinobi village and became a shinobi. With his Phantom Wolf at his side, he found prolonged success in the livelihood of assassination. He had known Yae Tenzen while she was developing a reputation as a genius prodigy in their village, lamenting that someone with her temperament had the essence of a shinobi despite her personality deviating from his ideal expectations.

After Yae's failure to assassinate Priscilla Barielle, a suicide squad comprised of Hamayal and nine other shinobi were tasked by Chisha Gold with achieving what the Crimson Sakura could not. Using the nine shinobi as a decoy, he was the one entrusted with the duty of assassinating Priscilla while her knight, Al, was dealing with the others. His plan came to a halt when Al intercepted him in the hidden passages under the Barielle Manor. Realizing his comrades were dead, he set his Phantom Wolf on Al. However, he was then attacked by Yae, who survived her failed assassination attempt, having been made to know "terror" and broken by Al, becoming his pawn in the process. The Phantom Wolf suddenly become subordinate to Al, and feeling anxiety, he attempted to attack the knight, only to fall victim to the Aggressor side of his Authority. On Al's orders, he sent his Phantom Wolf through the letter that was to report how the mission had went. The Phantom Wolf was set on Chisha as soon as he opened said letter, but Cecilus Segmunt, who was in the room with him, eradicated it in a flash, ending Hamayal's life.

Abilities

Phantom Wolf (幻狼, Genrō): A shadow beast with a will of its own that Hamayal coexisted with. Having fed his shadow to the beast as a child, it grew up alongside him until it took on the form of a humongous quadruped with the silhouette of a wolf, lacking any proper body parts like eyes or a nose. Losing his own shadow, the Phantom Wolf would fold itself into appearing as Hamayal's shadow and had the ability to break off independently from it to attack a prey or sneak into all sorts of crevices, returning to appearing as his shadow once finished with a task. He cooperated with his Phantom Wolf to easily execute any enemy he came across. However, Hamayal's utilization of the Phantom Wolf came at a price. Because the lives of a shadow beast and a shadow master are connected with each other, if one perishes, the other will follow. When destroyed, a Phantom Wolf disperses as a phantom would. Hamayal's Phantom Wolf was disposed of by Cecilus Segmunt, immediately ending his own life.

Shinobi Techniques (シノビの術技, Shinobi no Jutsugi): As a shinobi, Hamayal was apt in the use of shinobi techniques. The only skill he displayed was a technique of tightening his muscles to stop his body's bleeding.
