Anastasia Hoshin/Relationships

Family

Eridna

Anastasia met Eridna eleven years ago and Eridna became her consultant because she was intrigued by her. Eridna cares about Anastasia, and she has often been seen hiding in plain sight around Anastasia’s neck. During the events of Arc 5, though Anastasia was beginning to wonder whether she should reveal Eridna’s presence to Subaru, she ultimately decided against it when she was asked not to by the spirit. Furthermore, she would even allow Eridna to possess her body (which she has allowed to happen a few times in the past), as shown during the climax of the Battle for Priestella. However, when Anastasia would refuse to come out of her Od in fear of losing her memories of Julius to Gluttony, Eridna would be left worried that she couldn’t return control, and this would lead to her offering a solution to head to the Pleiades Watchtower.

During the climax of Arc 6, Eridna would finally understand why Anastasia locked herself away. Watching Julius, however, she felt that Anastasia shouldn’t have been fearful of having to restart her relationship with the knight. Though it pained her to do so, Eridna severed her contract with Anastasia to pull her out of her Od and back into her body. Fortunately, Eridna’s relationship with Anastasia is unharmed in spite of this.

Ricardo Welkin

Anastasia's relationship with Ricardo and her association with the Iron Fang has lasted more than 10 years. She has confidence in him, since he is the leader of the Iron Fang, her personal mercenary group. Ricardo also helped her take care of the Pearlbaton triplets. Out of all members of her camp, Ricardo is the only one that she can depend on. The main members: Ricardo, Mimi, Hetaro, and Tivey, have known each other for a long time, and they are all practically family.

Mimi, Hetaro, & Tivey Pearlbaton

Anastasia and Ricardo took care of the triplets and lived with them ever since Roshi died. Mimi is always asking Anastasia if she could do something, which is usually answered with a yes.

Anastasia Camp

Julius Juukulius

Anastasia has known Julius for a while. When she wished to expand her business into Lugunica, she would head to the Juukulius House, where she would meet the Finest of Knights and negotiate with him. However, despite the two having no hostility or negative relationship, negotiations go in a different direction than she wished, and she decided to return home. However, when she picked up the dragon insignia and it glowed in her hands, Julius made the offer to show her the inner workings of the Lugunican government up close and personal, detailing the Royal Selection and how she was now involved.

Shortly after, in the Royal Capital, she would find herself in a difficult standing with the nobles and even declared that she was willing to remove herself from the Royal Selection. However, when Julius offered to become her knight, she would accept it, and she would even reveal that the whole farce from before was a ruse so that he would become her knight. The two have had a very close relationship ever since, with both of them going on outings every now and then and Anastasia even becoming frustrated on Julius’s behalf when dealing with other merchants on one said outing.

During the events of Arc 5, Julius found himself amused with her honest and genuine reaction to Emilia’s words, causing her to become annoyed with him. Furthermore, her concern for him was so great that she decided to lock herself away in her Od so that she wouldn’t forget Julius should his name have been eaten by Gluttony, a fear that would come to pass.

In Arc 6, when she was forced out of her Od and was faced with the consequences of Gluttony, her and Julius’s relationship would start anew, with Anastasia once again stating that she wanted Julius to follow her, which he would gladly do. Naturally, the two would stick close to each other ever since.

Joshua Juukulius

As a member of her camp and Julius’s brother, Anastasia trusts Joshua, entrusting him with retrieving important letters as well as speaking to other Royal Selection candidates in her place. However, she has forgotten him since his name and memories were devoured.

Emilia Camp

Emilia

Though the two are rivals for the Royal Selection, Anastasia gets along rather well with Emilia. That said, Anastasia initially believed that Emilia stood no chance at winning the selection due to widespread discrimination and even claimed that the successful White Whale and Sloth hunts only reflected on Subaru rather than her. Despite this, Anastasia and Emilia see each other in a positive light. Due to their roles in the Royal Selection, Anastasia has told her to save waiting to become friends for after the selection, though with Emilia’s attitude, Anastasia couldn’t help but waver at Emilia’s want to become friends. She also respects Emilia’s determination to become the next monarch being so strong.

Natsuki Subaru

Initially, Anastasia had little respect for Subaru due to his outburst in the Royal Palace, and in one failed loop, she even used him to get information on the other camps. However, when Subaru managed to successfully negotiate with multiple different parties to collude with one goal in mind, she came to respect him, and that respect increased with his part as a leader in the hunts that followed. Of course, afterward, she began looking into Subaru’s history, and because she failed to find anything on him beyond his first day in the Royal Capital, she believed him to be nothing more than some kid who got lucky.

In Arc 5, when Anastasia brought multiple camps to Priestella, she and Subaru were able to get along very well, and she found his interest in Kararagi’s “Jabaneez” style intriguing. Later, she was grateful for Subaru’s outburst against Heinkel and Priscilla, which allowed her and the others present to keep their cools. During the Battle for Priestella, the two worked together while acting as generals leading the resistance against the Witch Cult, leading to a certain level of trust between the two. In fact, during one of their conversations, she would even ask Julius to leave the room so that they could talk. Following the speech Subaru gave to calm and raise the morale of the people of Priestella, he left her amazed and inspired as well, increasing her respect for him that much further. Thanks to their interactions, Subaru would be one of the few to notice that “Anastasia” wasn’t Anastasia towards the end of the arc. Of course, thanks to Subaru’s conduct, apparent knowledge, and leadership during the battle, her curiosity about his history sparked up again, as he had clearly shown that he was not just some lucky kid and was clearly not to be trifled with.

Later, following the climax of Arc 6, Anastasia would calm him down when he suggested killing Roy to vent his frustration, claiming that he was still necessary to recover the names he’d stolen. She would even go on to say that she preferred Subaru to stay as the person he is, not wishing for him to stain his hands with blood, like so many in this world have. Soon after, when Subaru was whisked away by a shadow, she decided to assist the Emilia Camp in retrieving Subaru from Vollachia, willing to cut through two countries to bring him back. Upon meeting Subaru and hearing of his woes throughout Vollachia, Anastasia sympathized with his plights, though she was also one of the people who warned him about how the world would think of Spica, who he intended to protect.

Otto Suwen

As fellow merchants, the two have an easier time understanding and respecting each other. Presently, their conversations have been minimal, but during those times, the two were able to cooperate with each other. In Arc 8, the two would also remain behind in Garkla to assist in leading the city’s defense against the zombies of the Great Disaster.

Felt Camp

Felt

After the Anastasia Camp inadvertently happened upon Mozolite and played a small part in resolving the incident in Flanders, Anastasia met with Felt, and the two decided to be friendly, finding a sense of camaraderie with each other. They maintain a positive relationship in Arc 5.

Priscilla Camp

Priscilla Barielle

Among all of the Royal Selection Candidates, these two see each other as the biggest threats, the two of them having the largest influence, connections, and realistic points of view regarding the world, as seen during the Newspaper side story when they meet. That said, Anastasia also finds her to be the most difficult of the candidates to talk with, going so far as to not invite her to Priestella in Arc 5. Oddly, it should be noted that Priscilla is one of the few people who recognized that “Anastasia” was not Anastasia close to the end of the arc, at least according to Eridna.

After the events of the Great Disaster, Anastasia continued to believe that she and Priscilla were unlikely to be friends. That said, she was also somewhat saddened by Priscilla’s demise.

Al

Though their interactions are minimal, the two worked together to trap Capella in Priestella during the climax of the arc. However, when he heard Ferris mention her use of magic, Al became hostile and held his blade to her throat, claiming that Anastasia couldn’t use magic, and asked who she really was, though he was calmed by Ferris. By this point, it was not common knowledge about her Gate’s deficiency or that she shouldn’t have been able to use magic. Thus, how Al came across this knowledge is unknown.

Lugunicans

Kiritaka Muse

Anastasia respects the man since he decided to use himself as bait in order to buy time for Anastasia’s group to escape from Wrath. Witnessing this would also rile her sense of helplessness and fuel her desire to win against the Witch Cult.

Kararagians

Halibel

Anastasia and Halibel have a very friendly relationship that began when she stopped his assassination contract meant for Ricardo. Though realizing his services are expensive, she is willing to fish out the cash necessary to pay if she deemed it necessary. In fact, he even accompanied her to Vollachia to help save Subaru at her request, and he even accepted her request to listen to Subaru as much as possible. That said, she often finds herself frustrated with the Admirer’s teasing, and she is often left breaking character in her frustration while attempting to scold him.

Witch Cult

Sirius Romanée-Conti

Anastasia met the madwoman when she assaulted their first active base in Priestella during the battle. The two didn’t interact for long, but Anastasia immediately recognized how dangerous and insane she was.
