Spica/Relationships

Emilia Camp

Natsuki Subaru

Despite Subaru’s apparent hatred and fear of her, Spica seemed to have become extremely attached to Subaru very quickly. When she first woke up, her first action was to pounce Subaru and wake him up, causing him to throw her off, afraid and curious as to why she was there. Shortly after, when Rem had awakened and attacked Subaru, she pushed Rem off of Subaru to protect him, though he would quickly pin her down. After this, when Rem left him unconscious and took her away, it was partially because of Spica that he managed to locate them.

Ever since, Subaru remained extremely wary of her while she seemed to have no care in the world around him. In fact, during his second failed loop of Arc 7, Spica started to cry and wail while trying to reach Subaru after he had been shot by an arrow. Meanwhile, in the main timeline, when Subaru was left on the verge of dying after having helped free her and Rem from their imprisonment, it was because of Spica that Rem was able to save his life. Yet again, when they were in Guaral and forced to escape, it was thanks to Spica’s actions that Subaru managed to push Todd Fang off of the carriage. That said, his fear of her remained, and so did his lack of trust.

Despite this, Spica still decided to stow away on the carriage he was riding to Chaosflame, happily pouncing him when she made her presence known. Afterward, Spica attempted to stay by Subaru’s side as much as possible. Throughout the events in Chaosflame, Spica assumed an extremely defensive and vigilant position around Subaru. She attempted to warn Subaru about his incoming infantilization upon returning to their lodgings, she stood in front of Subaru to protect him from Olbart in one of his failed loops, she protected him from and attacked the various citizens of Chaosflame who were attempting to harm him, and in her biggest display of protectiveness and faith, she died many times over while attempting to save and help Subaru during the “ten seconds of despair.” Because of this, Subaru’s fear of her lessened dramatically, and he even instinctively called out to her to escape with him when he thought she would be in danger from his allies.

Shortly after this, when Subaru was encased in a mass of shadows and started destroying the city, Spica was desperate to try and defeat the shadows, using her various skills in an effort to save him. This desperation was so strong that when it came time to temporarily retreat from the shadows, Al had to forcibly knock her out to pull her away. With the false Great Disaster successfully quelled, Spica desperately dug at the ground in an attempt to find Subaru, to the point that her fingernails were cracked and bleeding. Unable to retrieve him, Spica remained extremely worried for his safety.

The two would meet again in Lupugana, where Spica would teleport all the way to Subaru to save his contracted spirit’s life. Though crying in fear, worry, and relief, Subaru was happy to see her again, and they fought together throughout the beginning of the Great Disaster. During their retreat from the imperial capital, Subaru confronted Spica and stated how he felt about her since the beginning. Despite this, Subaru offered his hand to her in order to give her a second chance. When she did, he gave her the new name Spica, and she burst into tears. Afterwards, the two would fight alongside each other throughout the rest of the battle, with Subaru even teaching her how to use the Authority of Gluttony.

In Arc 9, Spica decided to temporarily remain behind in Vollachia, much to Subaru’s dismay. While he understood why, he was reluctant to leave her behind. Before their departure, Subaru walked with Spica hand in hand alongside Rem, before entrusting her care to Cecilus. By this point, she looks up to Subaru like a role model, and with his example, she became willing to put her own life on the line to settle disputes.

Rem

Like with Subaru, Spica was very fond of Rem after waking up. Despite pushing her off of Subaru when she attacked him, when Rem and Spica were together, Spica always got along with Rem, and she often wrapped her arms around her waist like a sister or mother figure. She even helped Rem trigger her healing magic to save Subaru’s life. Of course, Rem did not know of her origins, but she still felt a strong desire to protect the girl.

Despite the two being close, Spica had no problems with leaving the worried Rem in Guaral to travel with Subaru. After this, when Rem was also taken away, Spica worried greatly for Rem, similarly to how she did for Subaru. That said, the two would later reunite in Lupugana and escape together. Soon after, Rem would learn of Spica’s real identity, causing her to attack Subaru. When Spica was offered a second chance by him, however, she and Rem cried and embraced each other.

Like Subaru, Rem was hesitant to leave Spica behind in Vollachia. Before their departure, she walked hand in hand with Spica alongside Subaru.

Beatrice

Due to Spica’s origins apparently being that of Rui Arneb, Beatrice held great hostility towards the girl and was even ready to attack her. Of course, Spica didn’t know how to respond to her. Fortunately, Beatrice was pacified for the time being when so many people protected her, and she ended up being the one to watch over Spica. During the Battle for the Imperial Capital, despite her wariness of the girl, she decided to trust her with taking her to the skies, and when Beatrice successfully prevented a large attack, Spica was extremely desperate to stop her from fading away, not wishing for her to die. When she managed to take the girl to Subaru, she was left in tears for letting her nearly die, and then they soon fought together.

During their retreat from Lupugana, Beatrice decided to trust in Subaru’s judgment to give her a second chance, and from this point forward, Spica and Beatrice worked side by side. In fact, in the final battle to defeat the Great Disaster, Spica began to call the spirit “Eao,” which left Beatrice annoyed and saying that only Subaru could call her “Beako.”

Emilia

Despite realizing that Spica was Rui, Emilia was one of the people who decided to offer the girl her hand, deciding to trust her when she noticed Spica’s worry for Subaru and Rem. Because of this, Spica trusts Emilia.

Garfiel Tinzel

While Spica has no issues with Garfiel, when he learned of her identity as the former Sin Archbishop of Gluttony, he was immediately hostile and was ready to kill her. Later, however, following the Great Disaster, when Spica decided to temporarily remain in Vollachia to clear her name, Garfiel looked forward to seeing her again.

Priscilla Camp

Al

Spica does not seem to like Al very much, biting at his fingers when his hand came close to touching her. However, things wouldn’t truly become hostile between the two until Al learned of her identity as the Sin Archbishop of Gluttony. It was partially because of this that she and Subaru escaped him and their allies in Chaosflame. That said, Spica and Al wouldn’t come to blows, and they even temporarily allied with each other. In fact, despite his anger towards her, Al was one of the people to defend Spica, saying that trying to harm her would end up hurting Subaru.

Imperial Family

Vincent Vollachia

Initially, Vincent and Spica thought nothing of each other, and this would not change until Chaosflame. Vincent found Subaru’s behavior around her odd, and when he saw the girl’s combat prowess and learned of her identity as the Sin Archbishop of Gluttony, he stated that those associated with the Witch Cult were executed in Vollachia, leading the two to escape from him and their allies. Later, when Subaru was swallowed by the shadows that were devouring Chaosflame, Spica made her way to Vincent to get him to help. However, hearing him run his arrogant mouth led her to strike him hard in the gut and leave him behind. After the false Great Disaster was over, she was left angered by him again when he coldly stated his beliefs about her actions and Subaru’s whereabouts.

Spica’s disdain for Vincent seems to last for the rest of the time she is in Vollachia, often becoming annoyed with his demeanor and words, similar to Subaru and Beatrice. That said, Vincent did persuade her to temporarily remain behind in Vollachia, as she could assist with the remaining undead while simultaneously allowing her to redeem herself from her crimes as Rui Arneb.

Medium O'Connell

Medium acted almost like a big sister figure to Spica, often messing around with the girl and even fixing her hair. However, when she learned of Spica’s identity as the Sin Archbishop of Gluttony, Medium was terrified of the girl, and was partially responsible for Spica and Subaru escaping her and their allies. That said, she felt great regret about this, wanting things to stay the way they were between them. Later, Medium was one of the people who defended Spica from the hostility of the Emilia Camp.

Nine Divine Generals

Cecilus Segmunt

Cecilus understands and respects Spica’s situation, even admiring that she was willing to take her own life into her own hands to redeem herself. Likewise, Spica respects Cecilus’s strength, though after having witnessed his absurd behavior and violence, as well as having been warned by Subaru to be careful around him and only to trust his strength, she understands that she must be wary around him, and that Cecilus is not one to make light of. Like Arakiya, Cecilus was tasked with protecting her during her tenure in Vollachia out of both respect for Subaru’s wishes and his emperor’s command. However, despite this, she finds his self-centeredness rather frustrating to deal with, and she even made it clear that she would prefer Zikr over Cecilus.

Arakiya

Oddly, Spica seems to have been afraid of Arakiya. Despite nobody else realizing she was there, when Spica noticed the Spirit Eater’s presence, she was left terrified and reeling back. The cause of this fear is presently unknown. Despite that, when Arakiya was tasked with protecting Spica, that fear was apparently gone, and Spica was willing to reach out to her and even stop her violent actions by putting her own life on the line. Afterward, though Spica acted friendly toward her, Arakiya rejected her, telling her not to touch her and attempting to ignore the girl. That said, Spica was still in charge of keeping Arakiya in check with her teleportation, making a headway to mend this relationship difficult to find.

As they traveled together, however, the two seemed to be able to have no problem with each other's presence, with Arakiya giving a form of apology to her and allowing Spica to lean her head on her shoulder, despite her complaint.

Yorna Mishigure

The two first met in Chaosflame when Subaru took her into the Crimson Lapis Castle. Mistaking her for an ordinary child, Yorna showed her softer side to the girl, and Spica was friendly with her. Later, the two would fight side by side against the false Great Disaster. When they returned to Guaral, despite realizing her identity as the Sin Archbishop of Gluttony, Yorna was one of the first people to defend Spica, having seen her extreme desperation to find Subaru.

Imperial Army

Zikr Osman

Because Zikr showed her much respect and treated her quite friendly, Spica has a positive opinion of him, to the point that she wanted to trade out Cecilus for Zikr when she was being sent out on her task to clear the undead from Vollachia.

Vollachians

Utakata Shudrak

Spica and Utakata are very friendly with each other, and the two played together in the Shudrakian village. Later, Utakata helped smuggle Spica onto the carriage heading into Chaosflame.

Witch Cult

Rui Arneb

Rui is Spica’s apparent past self who served as a Sin Archbishop and committed numerous atrocities alongside her brothers. Though Spica does not remember this, she finds her past to be something unforgivable, and she is currently attempting to rid herself of that past, hoping to atone for the actions she had once committed.

Witches

Sphinx

The two first met in Lupugana during the Great Disaster. Seeing how Spica handled the zombies, Sphinx immediately recognized her usage of the Authority of Gluttony, and she attempted to kill her. Shortly after, the two met in combat. Later, the two met once again, and Spica devoured her name, putting the Witch to rest.
