Flying Dragon Cataclysm

The Flying Dragon Cataclysm (飛竜災害) is an event that took place approximately one year and six months after the arrival of Natsuki Subaru into the world, and it takes place halfway through Arc 7. As Subaru and Abel’s group are handling business in Chaosflame, Berstetz Fondalfon, the prime minister of Vollachia, ordered the Ninth ranking Divine General, Madelyn Eschart, to attack Guaral with her army of flying dragons.

Madelyn’s dragons caused devastating damage to the Fortress City, as despite its incredible fortitude when handling armies, its weakness towards aerial combat left it wide open for attack. Fortunately, with the assistance of the members of the Priscilla Camp that were within the city, as well as the members of the Emilia Camp, who had come to Vollachia to retrieve Subaru and Rem, they were successfully able to minimize the damage as much as possible.

Due to the efforts of Emilia and Priscilla Barielle, who fought off the general, she was forced to retreat elsewhere. After an encounter with Flop O'Connell, who she injured, and Rem, who could heal him, Madelyn retreated with her flying dragons, taking Flop and Rem with her.

Background

In the wake of the Fall of Guaral, with assistance from Jamal Aurélie, Todd Fang was able to successfully retrieve the imprisoned Divine General Arakiya from within the Fortress City and retreated to the Imperial Capital of Lupugana with her. Hearing the news of Guaral's fall, Vincent Abellux's enemy, Imperial Prime Minister Berstetz Fondalfon, instructed his collaborator, Divine General Madelyn Eschart, to commence an assault on the captured city. In the meantime, a party consisting of Abel, Natsuki Subaru, Rui Arneb, Al, Medium O'Connell, and Taritta Shudrak had ventured to the Demon City of Chaosflame ruled by Divine General Yorna Mishigure with the intent to recruit her to their faction and acquire Priscilla Barielle's support in the process. Among those who stayed in the city were Rem, Flop O'Connell, the remainder of the Priscilla Camp and the People of Shudrak, and the commander of the Imperial Army forces within Guaral, Second-Class General Zikr Osman.

• The name “Flying Dragon Cataclysm” is not exclusive to the name of this incident. Typically, in Vollachia, Flying Dragon Cataclysms are incidents in which flying dragons completely destroy a settlement during their breeding season.^[1]
