Imperial Family

Lamia Godwin

Berstetz greatly respects Lamia and followed her during the Imperial Selection Ceremony, acting as her advisor. He even assisted her in the poisoning of her brother, Barthroy Fitts. Naturally, he was saddened upon hearing of her death. That said, when she was resurrected during the Great Disaster, he believed that she and the rest of the Imperial Family should not have risen, that though they were once great men and women in life, they are now dead, and they should leave the world to the living. That said, even in Undeath, Lamia was willing to bring him to her side if he wished it, though he refused the offer. Ultimately, he was the one responsible for her defeat during her attack on the coupled dragon carriages, though he still displayed his fondness of her.

Vincent Vollachia

Although they were originally enemies on opposing sides of the Imperial Selection, following Lamia’s death and his victory in the ceremony, Vincent offered him the position of Prime Minister, believing his skills as a necessary part of Vollachia’s survival. As Vincent was the emperor and completely defeated his opponents, Berstetz was loyal to him, and he respected his rule.

Unfortunately, due to his lack of knowledge of the coming Great Disaster, he was left baffled by Vincent’s decision to not take on a wife or concubine and not sire an heir, something necessary for Vollachia’s Imperial Family’s continued survival. His discontent culminated in him plotting with Chisha in an Imperial Coup, which ultimately resulted in the Imperial Civil War. He was even perfectly prepared to give his life to this end.

After the Great Disaster started, he did everything in his power to assist Vincent, and he was perfectly prepared for his execution that would follow the disaster. However, contrary to this, Vincent believed that at such a crucial time, losing the Prime Minister would be a terrible blow to the nation, and instead of punishment for his prior actions, Vincent allowed him to keep his seat. Seeing as how he was able to take a wife with this entire incident, Berstetz was satisfied with Vincent’s rule and decisions.

Chisha Gold

Berstetz greatly respects Chisha’s intelligence and tactical skills. In fact, the two even colluded throughout the events of the Imperial Civil War, though Chisha did not tell him everything. After the man’s death and the start of the Great Disaster, he realized that he was also fooled by Chisha, yet he was neither angry nor surprised, and in fact, he respected the man’s decision.

Goz Ralfon

Although there was no bad blood between them initially, after Berstetz helped instigate the Imperial Civil War, Goz was greatly enraged by him, and in the end, Berstetz was forced to keep him imprisoned beneath his own mansion. After Goz escaped and confronted Berstetz, he made his discontent known and was ready to end him personally. However, he put that off with a greater issue at hand. What he thinks of the old man following the disaster is unknown.

Madelyn Eschart

After discovering Madelyn and hearing of her connection to Balleroy Temeglyph, Berstetz gave her the name of Eschart and offered her a way to follow Balleroy’s trail. Later, he proposed to Vincent to make her the Ninth of the Divine Generals, as the position was vacant. Although she failed her task, with Kafma Irulux refusing the position himself, Berstetz got her the position. Because of this, she is willing to listen to him and even stayed at his mansion.

Imperial Army

Todd Fang

After successfully rescuing Arakiya during the Fall of Guaral, Berstetz promoted him and made him Arakiya’s subordinate, even tasking him with the destruction of Ginunhive. That said, he was frustrated with his failure.

Vollachians

Serena Dracroy

Berstetz and Serena respect each other and their leading skills, and the two of them acted somewhat as generals together during the defense of Garkla during the Great Disaster.

Gustav Morello

Though he intended to destroy Ginunhive, because of his respect for the man and his loyalty, as well as his continued service in keeping the island maintained, he was willing to offer him a promotion to avoid the fate that would come with the rest of the island.

Emilia Camp

Otto Suwen

Berstetz showed Otto respect, and like with Serena, he worked together with the man during the defense of Garkla.
