Madelyn Eschart/Relationships

Family

Mezoreia

Originally, Madelyn was a creation of Mezoreia, and it treated Madelyn like its own daughter. Despite its mind being practically lost, it would defend her to the death if necessary, and it often went and hunted for food for her. Their relationship remained this way for years, and Madelyn loved Mezoreia. Even when Balleroy eventually appeared, when he attempted to bring her to see the outside world, Mezoreia stopped it, and later, it even met him in combat in an effort to protect her. However, when Madelyn decided to go outside, it allowed her to do so, and it even followed her, often hiding above the clouds. Eventually, Madelyn would show the ability to take over Mezoreia’s body, though what Mezoreia thinks about this and her actions is unknown.

Nine Divine Generals

Balleroy Temeglyph

Balleroy was the first non-dragon that Madelyn had ever seen. When they met, Balleroy was surprised to see her there and offered her clothes. Deciding to return, Balleroy often visited Madelyn and even taught her how to speak, even being the one to give her the name Madelyn. Over time, her love for him grew, and eventually, he even fought Mezoreia in an attempt to try and allow her to see the outside world. Unbeknownst to her, this would be one of the last times she would see him. When she eventually went to the outside world, she followed Balleroy’s trail and eventually learned of his death. When she took his place as the Ninth of the Nine Divine Generals, she felt an incredible sense of guilt, not wishing to replace everything that made Balleroy special, even when she used his title when she went to kill others.

At the start of the Great Disaster, as soon as Madelyn sensed Balleroy’s presence among the undead, she quickly turned and attacked her ally in order to protect Balleroy, and she would even remain on the side of the undead simply to stay by his side. Later, after she faced defeat, she confronted Balleroy one last time. Not wishing for him to leave her behind, she confessed her love for him. However, he had to reject it as he would soon meet his end, causing Madelyn great grief. Watching as Balleroy gave his undead life taking Moguro’s core into the sky, Madelyn wailed as she watched him vanish.

Vollachians

Carillon

Like with Balleroy, Madelyn was very fond of his dragon, being very friendly with him. However, she would be saddened by his death alongside Balleroy. During the Great Disaster, the two would reunite, Carillon even showing care for her. However, Carillon died a second time alongside Balleroy, leaving Madelyn to wail.

Berstetz Fondalfon

Shortly after she learned of Balleroy’s death, Berstetz offered her the chance to follow his trail by becoming one of the Nine Divine Generals, and he even gave her the name Eschart. After this, Berstetz would allow her to reside in his mansion in the Imperial Capital.

Flop O'Connell

The two first met on hostile terms in Guaral. When she arrived at the place where the injured were taken care of, Flop blocked a strike meant for Rem, nearly bringing his life to an end. Seeing a necklace with one of Carillon’s teeth on it, she would demand answers from the man, wanting to know his connection to Balleroy and Carillon. Her need for answers would lead to her retreating from Guaral and taking him back to the Imperial Capital to be healed. Though she got some answers from him, the two have not met again since before the Battle for the Imperial Capital.

Katya Aurélie

Madelyn does not think much of Katya, with the latter often showing fear of her. When Rem had intentionally provoked her, however, Katya got between them to protect the girl, even knowing her anger might be redirected towards herself.

Emilia Camp

Emilia

The two first met in Guaral when Emilia attempted to stop her reckless rampage in the town. At first, the two were hostile towards each other and their only focus was their task at hand. However, when they met later in Lupugana, Emilia resolved herself to try and talk with Madelyn, wishing to come to better terms with her. Unfortunately, Madelyn didn’t properly answer her, leading her to continue their fight and even take control of Mezoreia. After the Great Disaster, the two were finally able to properly converse, and Madelyn helped Emilia cry over Priscilla’s death.

Rem

The two started off on hostile terms. Madelyn attempted to attack Rem, and Flop took the attack in her stead. When Madelyn began demanding answer of him, Rem tried to heal him. However, she made a deal with Madelyn to stop attacking Guaral so that she would heal Flop, resulting in Rem being taken to the Imperial Capital. There, while Rem continued healing Flop over time, she often irritated the Dragonkin, nearly leading Madelyn to attack her in her rage. The two have not come into contact since before the Battle for the Imperial Capital.

Garfiel Tinzel

While she initially thought nothing of Garfiel, when he not only managed to withstand an attack from her in Mezoreia’s body but also managed to damage her, she became enraged with him and continued trying to crush him. Her frustration would only grow when as the battle progressed, with her eventually becoming dumbfounded by his feat of flipping her by the end of her tail. In her rage, she attempted to fry him with Dragon’s Breath, but her bewilderment only increased further with Garfiel successfully managed to quell the attack and even heal from it. After this, in her delirium when she flew to the sky and generated an immense attack with the aim of it unknown, Garfiel brought her down with the intent of talking to her.

Priscilla Camp

Priscilla Barielle

Like with Emilia, Madelyn met Priscilla in combat in Guaral. Madelyn found herself annoyed and frustrated with Priscilla’s arrogance, and eventually, she even decided to rely on the power of a dragon to handle her.

Heinkel Astrea

Madelyn has confronted Heinkel twice. First in Guaral, she was angered that so many of her kin were slaughtered by his hand, and that rage only increased when she realized he was a coward. Later, she met him in Lupugana, where she regarded him as nothing more than a bug and tried to squash him. However, Heinkel managed to survive this, and despite his fear of her, his assistance to Garfiel is what ultimately led to her defeat.
